Mary Petersen, L.M.S.W., A.C.S.W., has been practicing therapy since 1999, and has been in private practice since 2005. She is certified and licensed through the state of Michigan, and is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) which is an award given by the National Association of Social Workers to recognize that a therapist is approved for independent practice.
Mary holds a Bachelors Degree in English with a minor in Psychology from Michigan State University (1992) and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University (1999.)
Mary did her graduate research on inhibited grief, and hence treats many forms of loss including (but not limited to) bereavement, as well as complicated loss such as trauma, including extensive work sexual assault of both women and men.
Additional graduate work in Education at Wayne State (1992-1993) concentrated on certification to teach secondary school students.
